President Ramaphosa to render his first State Of The Nation Address #SONA2018

The newly elected South African President will give his “State Of The Nation Address”. Ramaphosa will deliver the #SONA2018 from 19:00 at the Parliament of South Africa in Cape Town.

There will be a national broadcast on SABC 2 and SABC radios across the country.

As a norm, the South African State of Nation Address involves a ceremonial parade exhibiting military traditions, drills and ethos of the army, the navy and the air force of the Republic of South Africa.

This includes a national salute by the Ceremonial Guard of the South African National Defence Force, a military band, a salute flight by the South African Air Force and a 21-gun salute.
In a statement, this morning, the Parliament of South Africa said they were ready for the proceeding. 
“A total of 1 120 guests have been invited to form part of this important occasion. They are drawn from all sectors of society, including youth, women, representatives of statutory and Constitutional institutions (such as the Chapter 9 institutions supporting democracy )” they said.
“The [parliament] entrance will be open from 6h30 till 14h00. From 14h00 this entrance will be restricted in preparation for the event.”
