Results: Last Eight Heats Up In The Nedbank-Cup

Sundowns, Chiefs, Maritzburg, through to the quart finals whilst Pirates stumbles. 7 sides from the Top eight standing in the Absa premiership managed to book their tickets to the last 8.

Orlando Pirates will have to wait another season for a domestic trophy. This was confirmed after they were eliminated by Cape-town City in a titanic last 16 clash which ended in a result of 1-0 in favour of City.

The ‘Citizens’ were the seventh side from the Absa Premiership to book their place to the quarter-finals following the advances of Bloemfontein Celtic, Free State Stars, Maritzburg United, Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Baroka FC.

The road to the last eight of the competition started on Friday 09 March when National First division side Ubuntu Cape-Town thrashed Amazulu in what was an empathic battle, to claim a spot in the last eight. Ubuntu Cape -town is the only team left from the lower division in this year’s competition. 

This year last eight is left with two(2) Gauteng clubs, two(2) from the Western Cape, two(2) from Free State, and one(1) from Kwa-Zulu Natal and the other one (1) from Limpopo.
