“The office of the ANC chief whip confirms that former minister of police, comrade Fikile Mbalula tendered his resignation as an ANC Member of Parliament in the National Assembly,” Jackson Mthembu’s spokesperson Nonceba Mhlauli said in a statement.
Mbalula will continue to serve in the party as the ANC Elections Head.
Meanwhile, there have been rumors that Mbalula would join the EFF, the former minister tweeted about the ANC’s Election campaign and ended up with a hashtag #RegisterToVoteEFF. The tweet was taken down after a few minutes.

Mbalula also vowed to be a full member of Black Twitter – a movement on Twitter social media that resolve day-to-day challenges and expose fraud and corruption.
