Former President FW de Klerk has been discharged from a Cape Town hospital on Monday.
The last apartheid head of state was admitted to Panorama Mediclinic on Friday.
According to a statement released by his foundation on Saturday, de Klerk was treated for a condition known as pneumothorax.
Pneumothorax is a condition when an abnormal collection of air in the pleural space between the lung and the chest wall pushes on the outside of the lung causing it to collapse.
The foundation said that de Klerk was discharged following a successful procedure on Saturday.
“The FW de Klerk Foundation is delighted to announce that the former president FW de Klerk was discharged from Panorama Mediclinic in Cape Town [Monday], following a successful procedure on Saturday to treat pneumothorax,”his foundation said in a statement.
