To the Democrtaic Alliance, this could be a serious threat since they have already experienced the same loss back in August 2018 when the EFF voted Athol Trollip out as mayor of the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality.
DA’s Athol was replaced by UDM’s Mongameli Boban. The Port Elizabeth High Court also dismissed an application by the DA in Nelson Mandela Bay and its coalition partners‚ Cope and the ACDP‚ for the court to review and set aside the decisions taken at the August 27 to remove Trollip as Mayor.
Still on DA mayors, City of Cape Town former mayor Patricia de Lille resigned on October 31st and was replaced by Dan Plato this past Tuesday.
Should the EFF vote against’t the DA in another Metro, the blues could possibly lose Johannesburg Metro which is led by Herman Mashaba, or the City of Tswane under Solly Msimanga; both cities were contested and won through a DA and EFF coalition to overthrow the ruling party, ANC.
