The Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG)church has announced that it will postpone it’s grand opening which had been scheduled for this past Sunday, 20 Jan 2019.
Gathering church has announced that it will postpone its ‘grand opening’, the first service of the year which had been scheduled for this past Sunday.
The church sent messages to its congregants and stated that the church will open again but did not specify the date.
This follows after the church was in hot water for not reporting the death of people who were involved in a stampede on the 31’st of December 2018 in Pretoria.
ECG spokesperson, Maynard Manyowa, told ANA that the church would open its doors when ready.
“The church, from today [Sunday], has declared seven days of prayer and fasting. When we are ready we will open” the church said in a brief response.
Meanwhile, the South African National Civic Organisation (SANCO) is adamant that the church should not open its doors given the situation.
A spokesperson said that the church should not continue as normal while the discussions were still ongoing.
