Writer and Director of a local film Matwetwe Kagiso Lediga, has taken to social media to confirm that over 16000 tickets were sold over the weekend.
Matwetwe opened in local cinemas this past weekend and people showed it loved. Lediga also revealed that more cinemas will be showcasing the movie.

Matwetwe (Wizard) is a coming of age adventure following Lefa and Papi, best friends and recent high school graduates, on the hustle of their young lives. Over the course of one action packed New Years Eve in the iconic township of Atteridgeville, the boys try to score a huge deal, dodge a king pin gangster and his violent minions, get the girl and ultimately save their lives in this hilarious and sometimes very serious escapade.

Black Coffee, South African multi award-winning record producer and DJ, who also acted as executive producer on the film said Matwetwewas the best performing SA film this weekend.
“We are all over the moon. You all made this happen and because of the demand, many more screens are being added on Friday. You all spoke and they listened,” Black Coffee said.
