Apple has admitted that a few of their MacBook keyboards have issues and they are “sorry” for this.
Following a bruising column from Joanna Stern at The Wall Street Journal on the faultly of keyboards, Apple issued a statement where it said it was aware that “a small number of users are having issues with their third-generation butterfly keyboard”.
“The vast majority of Mac notebook customers are having a positive experience with the new keyboard,” said Apple.
The keyboard problem is reported to be caused by dust or other particles building up beneath a MacBook’s keys, with the switches failing in certain cases as a result.
To fix the problem, Apple has changed the design of its 2018 MacBook keyboards. A silicon membrane has been placed under each key.
