One suspect has been arrested in connection with a devastating Cape Town train fire which gutted carriages on Sunday.
According to police in the Western Cape, police detained the suspect after Prasa officials apprehended him on Monday.
“Surveillance footage was used to identify the suspect, who is scheduled to make a court appearance in Cape Town Magistrates’ Court once he has been charged,” police said in a statement.
“The possibility of more arrests is not ruled out.”
Meanwhile, PRASA announced that it had lost R636 million due to train fires since 2015.
