The South African water utility supply urges Gauteng to stock water ahead of shut down. Randwater warns that Vereeniging will mainly be affected by maintenance work on the pipelines over the next few weeks.
Residents of Gauteng province have been urged to continue using water sparingly as Monday sees the start of a 54-hour maintenance operation as work begins and concludes on Wednesday.
Maintenance will be performed by officials on a pipeline from Lethabo to Vereeniging pump station.
Justice Mohale, Randwater spokesperson had this to say: “Tomorrow people should not panic, because we are going to be purifying water from Zuikersbosch as normal.”
Mohale shared that there will still be water available and warns against stocking water as this will only drain the system, creating more problems for RandWater.
