Busisiwe Mkhwebane released a damning report detailing the President’s involvement with Bosasa. Her report seems to find Ramaphosa to have deliberately misled the National Assembly concerning money donated to his election campaign by Bosasa. The company is linked to allegations made by a number of witnesses who appeared before the Zondo commission investigating state capture.
Ramaphosa told the media Sunday evening that the public protector’s report was “flawed”. He said he was going to seek judicial review of Mkhwebane’s findings against him. ” The report contains numerous factual inaccuracies of a material nature, the findings that are found are wrong in law, are irrational and, in some instances, exceed the scope of the powers of the public protector, ” said Ramaphosa.
The Communist party’s support for President Ramaphosa and Gordhan echoed very far. Solly Mapaila, deputy general secretary for the SACP reiterated his party’s unshaken support for the two. Speaking last week he said, “The SACP will not allow any individual, irrespective of their struggle credentials, to reverse the country’s democratic gains. We’ll not keep quiet when these forces that coalescing and coordinating the fightback campaign because all of them are sharing a similar thing; they are all afraid to go to jail.” Said Mapaila.
