The CR17 campaign which saw Ramaphosa elected to office of President has so far unleashed blows for him.
A month ago a damning report was released by Busiswe Mkhwebani, public protector where she details his linkage with Bosasa in accepting donations. Opposition parties also demanded answers from him in parliament. But the President indeed has tried to play a transparent game by stating initially that funds were transferred into his son’s account.
He later changed his statement to say the donations to his campaign was made without his knowledge.
DA leader Mmusi Maimane says, “The latest admission by President Cyril Ramaphosa that Bosasa donated at least R500 000 to his campaign for ANC presidency is nothing short of bribe and requires an extensive investigation.” Meanwhile, the Economic Freedom Fighters’ Mbuyiseni Ndlozi says, ” No sitting president should be in direct conflict with a chapter nine constitutional office for things he is guilty of.”
EFF believes that Ramaphisa should be on leave as long as he is still going to take the public protector’s report under review.
Khusel Diko spoke today defending office of the president saying, “He did nothing wrong while fundraising for his campaign”. And now another storm of leaked emails is raging against the president. The emails shows that Ramaphosa was not kept in the dark about potential donors.
They show that he was consulted by his campaign managers on certain potential donors even though he has previously denied being in the fundraising for the campaign. Khusela Diko, spokesperson for the president maintains that those emails were nothing more that what she calls “smoke and mirrors.”
