South African national soccer team coach Stuard Baxter resigned as the squad’s coach on Friday morning. In a private press briefing, Baxter told press member and the council that he is resigning with immediate effect.
“Someone should continue with this project and therefore I am resigning as coach”, Baxter said.
“There is no monetary settlement. This had nothing to do about money. The figures quoted about my salary have been embarrassingly way off the mark”,
The 65-year-old England born coach took the embattled Bafana to the Quarter Finals of the Africa Cup of Nations a month ago where they suffered 2:1 defeat by Nigeria.
Baxter emphasized that his resignation was not influenced by any person or structure by it solemnly his ‘personal decision’. The former Kaizer Chiefs and Supersport coach is also linked with a return to Naturena to head the embattled Amakhosi.
