Hundreds of people are now homeless following a Monday night blazed which destroyed over 200 shacks in Pomona informal settlement in Kempton Park
According to reports, the affected residents woke up Tuesday morning to rebuild their homes after they lost everything in a fire. However, those who have been affected has been placed at a city hall for temporary
Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services was back at the scene to help families clean up the area and salvage what is left of their belonging

Emergency services spokesperson Aaron Mafunda as quoted by EWN said: “Disaster management was on scene and they tried to get alternative accommodation for them, but about 95% of the community refused to move and wanted to stay in the area despite appeals that their belongings would be safe.”
