Tito Mboweni showed up at the ANC NEC meeting wearing ‘dirty shoes’.
The pictures making rounds, he’s seen wearing a black suit and brown torned formal shoes that looks like they haven’t been polished for days.
Reports say the move seems to be part of campaign to show Mzansi that he is living on the cheap, implicating he is not wasting any if the tax-payers money.
The minister also post pictures of him flying economy class, eating a tin of Lucky Star pilchards for dinner and cooking other basic home cooked meals.

Here is my story on #PowerBreakfast this morning. It’s Finance Minister @tito_mboweni‘s shoes. And like I said, @mabena_bob and @iamthabomdluli, I am willing to donate polish to the minister. #NationalTitoDay pic.twitter.com/N6DjG1Fbmb

Dear @tito_mboweni It is cringeworthy to go around pretending you’re something you’re not. This fetishisation of looking poor is annoying. Don’t you think it’s difficult for people who are poor to see you wearing those old shoes as some sort of ironic statement?😷😷😷😷😷😷😷😷😷 pic.twitter.com/vx8mveoXjc
