Helen Zille to run for DA top job

Zille  announced her move to contest for the federal council chairperson position on Friday.

Helen Zille , former DA national leader is planning to run for the Democratic Alliance top job. She is making herself available to stand at the position of federal council chairperson. Zille took to social media on Friday announcing her move to contest for the position.
It is a position currently occupied by James Selfe who is stepping down the end of October. Zille said she was persuaded by some party leaders to come run for the position during the week.

The DA has been embroiled in internal party squabbles as well as in a public spat where revelations of leader, Mmusi Maimane on him using former Steinhoff CEO, Markus Jooste’s donated car, and his Cape Town rented house.

It is said that the party is to elect another candidate as DA head of government during its federal council this month. The DA has been plagued by “turmoil and distress” in the last few months, said Helen Zille.
