African Giant and Trevor Noah not on the list.
The 62nd Annual Grammy Awards ceremony was held on January 26, 2020, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
It recognized the best recordings, compositions, and artists of the eligibility year, running from October 1, 2018, to August 31, 2019.
‘The African Giant’ Burna Boy and the South African comedian Trevor Noah did not make it to the winner’s list. This was Trevor’s first time in the Grammy Nominations.
Noah spoke at the event, much as bout the NBA star Kobe Bryant who passed away on the same day of the Grammy Awards on a Helicopter Crash
“I don’t think I’ve processed anything yet. I don’t think anyone has. It’s very strange when you feel like you know somebody because of all these moments and the impact they’ve had on your life,” Trevor Said
“And I think that’s what a lot of people are going through with the news about Kobe Bryant and his daughter, and the other people who are involved in the crash.”
Kobe died along with her 13-year-old daughter GiGi on the same crash. Few more other people were reported dead during the helicopter crash
Angélique Kidjo won ‘Best World Music’
Angélique Kidjo did, however, dedicate her award to Burna Boy. Kidjo won a Grammy award for ‘Best World Music’.
“The new generation of artists coming from Africa are going to take you by storm, and the time has come” said Kidjo during her acceptance speech.
