Orlando Pirates surprised Pitso Mosimane after snatching a 1:0 victory over the Tshwane giants Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday evening. The game was a family reunion to the Soweto club rivals as both Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs fans were cheering for the same results.

The second in place Mamelodi Sundowns had a match in hand over the log leaders Kaizer Chiefs, a chance they would have wanted to utilize to shortened the increasing points gap.

Despite several attempts by Sundowns, Gabadinho Mhango’s goal at the 30th minute was the goal that decided a win for the day.

Pirates end Pitso’s 7 years streak.

The idea of losing in Orlando Stadium was somewhat a shock to Pitso who has not lost a match for seven years in the arena.

Mosimane believes the match was only difficult on the results but not in the game itself.

“Not happy here because it’s my first defeat in seven years,” Pitso Mosimang said,

“I thought I’d keep the results the way there were good, but it’s okay”

The win also puts Orlando Pirates in a better place. The buccaneers are now in the 5th position with 27 points in 17 games.
