Most of the social media had mixed reactions towards Catzavelos sentencing. Some said the fight against racicm is not taken seriously in South Africa. While others questioned how the justice system works.
So to call a BLACK person in South Africa Kaffir as #adamcatzavelos did,the courts of South Africa believe that a fine of R50k is a sufficient 'penalty' and on top of that suspended 2 years. In essence the court says to every WHITE person who have R50k they can call us Kaffir— #TheUncapturedActivist 🇿🇦 (@AneleMda) February 28, 2020
The fight against racism in this country is not really taken seriously. Convicted racist #AdamCatzavelos is sentenced to R50k fine & 2 years suspended imprisonment sentence. He can afford that R50k & he will gladly pay it. 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️😰😰😰 pic.twitter.com/wC9GLYjeiS— Yem-Yem (@Tabile_Zukile) February 28, 2020
#AdamCatzavelos says he should not be judged on a 22sec video..well,let's judge him by the upbringing that assured him that's what black people are.— Hurt Cobain (@DefacedPicasso) February 28, 2020
