Minister of Transport Fikile Mbalula visited the factory production floor on Monday. The 72-hectare factory site has a supplier park and the Rail Training School.
The factory was constructed at the cost of R1 billion and was launched by President Cyril Ramaphosa in 2018.

The work at the factory is one of the ongoing projects to fix trains in the country.
At this year’s SONA President Ramaphosa said work is underway to maintain and upgrade trains.
” Work is underway on other lines including station upgrades, parkway replacements, new signaling systems and overheard electronic traction upgrades,” said President Ramaphosa.
