The ABSA Cape Epic organizing team has announced that they will proceed with the event amid the reported Corona Virus cases in the country.
“At this stage, the South African National Department of Health does not propose altering arrangements for public events, and therefore we will be proceeding with the ABSA Epic as planned,” they said.
ABSA Cape Epic also said that they have further built a comprehensive safety plan for the event based on the recommendations and guidelines of the World Health Organization ( WHO) and the South Africa Department of Health (DOH).
“The team has been hard at work developing and refining its operational plans with local authorities and agencies over the past year, including relevant safety measures and protocols which has been heightened over the last few weeks,” they said.
ABSA Cape Epic is an eight-days African mountain bike race held every year from 15-22 March.
Meanwhile, South Africa has reported 6 more cases of Coronavirus, making an overall 13 casesin the country.
