A Wits university male student tested positive for COVID-19 in Namibia, making him the 6th confirmed case of the pandemic, Namibian government revealed.
The Namibian president, DR. Hage G. Geingob said that the health of Namibians was a first priority and on Tuesday 24 March met with cabinet and deliberated on necessary measures to strengthen detention,testing , quarantine and combat tracing.
”The number of confirmed cases in Namibia are rising and as at today, stand at 6,” said president Geingob.
Wits university gave students 72 hours to vacate residences just after South African president Cyril Ramaphosa declared COVID-19 as a national disaster and that left students with no choice but to return to their provinces and countries.
The Wits male student was tested for COVID-19 in South Africa and only got his results when he was already in Namibia.
Namibia has announced a travel ban to all countries for a period of 30 days.
