President Ramaphosa announces a 21 days country lockdown from Thursday 26 March 2020.

Ramaphosa was addressing the country on the further steps the government has taken amid the growing number of coronavirus in South Africa.

South Africa currently has over 40 confirmed coronavirus cases.

The president said all shops and businesses will be closed, except for pharmacies, laboratories, banks, essential financial and payment services, including the JSE, supermarkets, petrol stations, and health care providers.

Ramaphosa says Nicky Oppenheimer and Johan Rupert families donated 1 billion rands each towards fighting Coronavirus in South Africa.
