It’s a hard time for South Africans. Citizens are locked up in their closets as requested by the government. Many are panicking on whether they will be able to survive the lockdown with the little resources they have, with the government also offering help where possible.
In the midst of all that, Televangelist and self-proclaimed Prophet Shepherd Bushiri took to his live broadcast to emphasize that people should offer his church account.
This did not lend well on social media. Many have criticized major for failing to sympathize with South Africans during this time.
“You are saying it’s a ‘Sunday and I cannot go without my offering’. There’s a church account I’m putting on the screen right now,” Bushiri says in the 27-second video, which is trending on Twitter.
“I want you to put your offering in the church account. Put your seed, put your tithe, don’t hesitate. Don’t listen to the devil. Don’t listen to what people say. Don’t listen to what your man says. Listen to what God says…”
