A total of 11 law enforcement officers were arrested over the Easter weekend, confirmed Vish Naidoo, Police Spokesperson Brigadier.
Nine out the 11 are from the Western Cape and two from Mpumalanga province.
The cops are expected to appear in the various courts of the land on Tuesday on charges mostly related to violating alcohol-related regulations.
Others among them are charged with faking a triggered alarm and then breaking into a liquor store.
“Seven of them were arrested yesterday in the Worcester area for allegedly faking an alarm and breaking into a bottle store. They’ve been arrested for defeating the ends of justice, possibly housebreaking as well as contravening the National Disaster Act ,” said Naidoo.
The other two officers from Mpumalanga were arrested for escorting bakkies that were transporting alcohol and were also expected to appear before the courts today.
The remaining two from Cape Town were arrested for allegedly buying alcohol after forcing a liquor store operator to open the store for them.
