Green Point resident who was seen strolling her dog has been fined R1 500, Police Confirmed.
The 52-year-old was arrested on Sunday and pictures of the incident were shared on social media. The woman was seen trying to play hide and seek with the police.
Police spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk confirmed the incident and said the woman was fined R1 500 for contravening the Disaster Management Regulations.
“A 52-year-old woman was arrested and fined R1 500. She has an option to pay the fine at the nearest police station, or go to court on an assigned date to contest the charge. I don’t know if she’d paid or not,” Naidoo told TimesLIVE on Monday.
Meanwhile, the SA Police Service (SAPS) has clarified that South Africans citizens will not be allowed to take walks themselves, walk with their dogs or go jogging even if they live in closed estates or complexes and confine their movements to these areas.
