The SAPS in Itsoseng, in the Potchefstroom area in the North West province, have opened two separate cases for murder and culpable homicide of a couple.
On Wednesday, 22 March 2020, a woman was found dead at her place while her husband was allegedly hit and killed by a truck.
Police were called to a culpable homicide crime scene at around 16:00, close to Thusong Hospital in Mahikeng, where the body of a 48-year old male was discovered dead after allegedly jumping and facing an oncoming vehicle.
SAPS says the deceased was certified dead by the Emergency Medical and Rescue Services (EMRS) personnel at the scene.
One hour later, police were called in by a family member of the deceased to attend a crime scene where a 28-year old woman’s body, wife of the 48-year old male, was found tied up with cloths around the neck and feet.
Upon arrival, the Itsoseng SAPS found the deceased’s lifeless body lying on the floor in a house in Zone 3, Itsoseng.
It is suspected that the woman might have died as a result of being strangled.
Members of the EMRS declared the woman dead on the scene after which investigations into both cases are ongoing.
The North West Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena has expressed shock concerning the incidents and has also made an appeal to the community never to resort to violence but to seek professional help to resolve their conflicts.
