Facebook users will soon be able to create a video chat room via Facebook or the Messenger app and invite up to 50 people to join a video call
Weeks after launching Messenger app for Desktop, Facebook has announced the rollout of ‘Messenger Rooms’ to take on Zoom.
The new feature is to allow users to make group video calls with no time limit and allows up to 50 people. Users can create a room from Messenger or Facebook and invite anyone to join, even if they don’t have a Facebook account.
Users are able to join rooms using a smartphone or computer without needing to download anything to get started. Facebook now has over 700 million voice and video calls a day via Messenger and WhatsApp, following the coronavirus outbreak.
Facebook Messenger Rooms will be rolling out in certain countries this week before expanding globally, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a livestream on Friday.
