Country icon Dolly Parton is making a big donation to help fund coronavirus research.
The “9 to 5” singer, actress and philanthropist tweeted Wednesday that she’s donating $1 million to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee for coronavirus research.
“My longtime friend Dr. Naji Abumrad, who’s been involved in research at Vanderbilt for many years, informed me that they were making some exciting advancements towards research of the coronavirus for a cure.
“I am making a donation of $1 million (R17.9 million) to Vanderbilt towards that research and to encourage people that can afford it to make donations. (sic)”
Meanwhile, the icon has urged her fans to keep the faith as she insisted staying positive was the best way to deal with the ongoing health crisis.
