Following Percy Tau’s club, Club Brugge KV being declared Belgian champions last night, South Africans were waiting on anticipation to see if the South African Premier Soccer League will follow the same route and crown Kaizer Chiefs champion. This has been dismissed.

SuperSport United CEO and Premier Soccer League (PSL) executive member Stan Matthews says the league will not follow in the footsteps of their Belgian Pro League counterparts and cancel the season.

Unlike the South African Premier League, the Belgian Pro League was quite obvious on who clearly leads. Tau’s Club Brugge has been flying on top with a 25 points difference whilst having played equal matches with the rest of the teams.

In South Africa, Kaizer Chiefs currently lead with a 4 points gap, with their performance really questionable recently. Kaizer Chiefs who had a 11 points gap were dramatically caught up by other teams.

Mamelodi Sundowns who are a great threat to Chiefs have also been knocked out of the CAF Champions, making them more available and very focused on the domestic PSL cup.
