President Cyril Ramaphosa has called for a meeting with Communications Minister Stella Ndabeni Abrahams over a picture circulating on social media that shows her enjoying lunch with ANC NEC Mduduzi Manana in violation of the lockdown rules.
Ramaphosa said he had seen the picture of minister Ndabeni sitting at a luncheon with a number of friends and he has asked her to come and see him.
“I have seen the picture of minister Ndabeni sitting at the luncheon with a number of friends and other people, i have asked her to come and see me,” he said.
President Ramaphosa said the essence of the meeting will be to discuss with the minister the impact of violating lockdown rules while the government is trying to instill a clear message that social distancing is important in flattening the COVID-19 curve.
“She’s going to come and see me and i’m going to have a discussion with her on the impact of violating what we are trying to do. We are trying to instill a clear message to our people that social distance is important, stay at home, let us not be going around,” he said.
Ramaphosa also added that officials should only leave their homes if it’s business related, other than that, they should stay at home because that’s what lockdown regulations are all about.
