The MEC for Education, Youth Development in Gauteng Province, Panyaza Lesufi has confirmed that Soshanguve Secondary School has become the latest to be set alight in suspected arson attack since the country’s lockdown.
“This morning it’s Soshanguve Secondary School, we lost four schools in a week,” he said.
Soshanguve Secondary School is the latest school to be set alight in the township.
The arsonists targeted administration offices in all the previous incidents that happened since the country’s lockdown.
last week Phuthanang Primary School’s administration offices were reduced to ashes, and Dithabaneng Primary School was also set alight, all the preliminary investigations point to an act of crime.
MEC Lesufi once revealed that criminals broke into Evaton Sebokeng Education offices, vandalized property and left a message that reads, “we took everything”.
Criminals are taking advantage of lockdown and school holidays to break-in and vandalize property.
Mofolo Primary School in Evaton, Tsokodibane Primary School in Evaton, Beverly High School in Evaton, Katleho Impumelo Primary School in Orange Farm and Dinokaneng Secondary School in Evaton all fell victims to the criminal’s break-ins and attacks.
