The Democratic Alliance (DA) has called on Thursday, Lebogang Maile of COgTA in the Gauteng province to be suspended
This follows North Gauteng High Court’s judgement by Duston Mlambo overturning the Gauteng government’s decision of placing the Tshwane metro under administration and for dissolving its council.
The judge president has accused the Gauteng provincial government of interfering in the affairs of Tshwane and has set aside and declared the decision as unlawful.
David Makhura, Gauteng premier announced last month his government’s decision for the dissolving of the council and citing the metro’s failure to provide services as a reason.
Steenhuizen, DA interim leader has this to say..
“This judgement confirms what the DA has said since the start of the disruptions to the Tshwane council: that this decision to place Tshwane under administration was nothing but a poorly disguised attempt to take back, undemocratically, what was lost at the ballot box. This is why the judgement is a big victory for democracy, and a serious setback for those intent on undermining it.”
