South African and AmaZulu F.C football legend Cedric ‘Sugar Ray’ Xulu has passed away. The club confirmed on Monday evening.
“It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sugar Ray Xulu, an AmaZulu legend. Our condolences go out to all his friends and family during this tragic time,” Amazulu announced.
Speaking to IOL, General Manager at Usuthu, Lunga Sokhela, confirmed that Xulu has passed away yesterday [Monday] around 5pm at Marainhilll Hospital.
EBNewsDaily learned the 81-year-old Xulu is believed to have died of cancer.
‘Sugar Ra’y was a prominent figure in the SA sports industry. To commemorate him, a stadium under his name named Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium was built in Durban.
