Johannesburg Mayor Geoffrey Makhubo says full body walk in sanitization tunnels are currently being tested at Bara Taxi Rank in Gauteng Province.
“Today MEC for Public Transport and Roads Infrastructure Jacob Mamabolo and I are in Bara Taxi Rank for an oversight visit and to test the new full full body walk in sanitization tunnels,” he said
Makhubo adds that government is committed to protect commuters against coronavirus as it is a mobile virus.
“We shall be partnering with the National Taxi Alliance (NTA) and SANTACO associations to help contain the spread of the virus in our taxi ranks,” he said.
The executive mayor also adds that 460 taxi ranks in the city of Johannesburg will be cleaned and sanitized frequently to ensure that commuters are safe and decrease the spread of COVID-19 in taxi ranks.
