After spending over a month suffering from Coronavirus, South African Federation of Trade Unions (Saftu) General-Secretary Zwelinzima Vavi has revealed what he used to treat himself.
Vavi tested for Covid-19 at the end of March and was later admitted to hospital when his symptoms worsened.
He was discharged from hospital on 8 April and went into self isolation at his home.
Taking to social media, Vavi posted a picture holding a traditional herb called Umhlonyane(worm wood) used to treat influenza.
In his caption Vavi wrote: “Traditional herbs have been used by our people for hundreds of years well before the existence of pharmacists! I used everything – from this in the pic to what is on offer in the pharmacy.”
Many social media users, including Fikile Mbalula, responded to his post.
In a tweet that has since been deleted, Mbalula asked if it was weed.
