Police have confirmed the hijacking of Home Affairs, Deputy Minister, Njabulo Nzuza on Thursday afternoon in Midrand.
This incident took place on Thursday at around 4:25pm.
A blue VW Golf GTI, with blue lights flashing, had followed him when he had just left a shopping center in Midrand by the occupants of that vehicle according to Vishnu Naidoo, the National Police Spokesperson.
Naidoo says,”Two men carrying handguns approached the deputy minister and forced him out of the driver’s seat and then on the floor at the back. They drove around with him, Withdrawing money from different ATM’s.”
Police says deputy minister, Nzuza was later dropped off in Mamelodi West after which the suspects fled with his blue Range Rover, two cellphones and a wallet.
So far, no arrests have been made in connection with the hijacking and the robbery of the deputy minister.
