Government has issued new Level 3 regulations which permits the sale of alcohol under restrictions in all licensed premises who have been issued licenses by a competent licensing authority in terms of the national or provincial liquor legislation.
The sale of liquor at any licensed premises or through ecommerce delivery is permitted from Monday to Thursday, between 09h00 and 17h00.
Transportation and distribution of liquor to licensed premises is permitted from 29 May 2020 subject to directives which may be issued by the relevant Cabinet Minister.
Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma says onsite consumption of alcohol is prohibited.
“The sale of liquor in licensed premises will now be permitted as of 1st of June 2020, for the limited period between Mondays and Thursdays from 09h00 and 17h00. However onsite consumption is prohibited and e commerce sales will be permitted subject to the same onsite trade days and time,” she said.
Dlamini-Zuma adds that the Minister of Trade, Industry and Competitions will elaborate further on that regard.
Minister Dlamini-Zuma adds that all measures that have been implemented are difficult, but necessary.
Consumption of alcohol at the place of sale is prohibited as well as the sale of alcohol on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
No special or events liquor licenses may be approved for the duration of the national state of disaster.
