Simphiwe Dana says she is getting married to a very sweet person, but she is still angry about the man who abused her and she wants him to pay for what he did to her and what he did to other women.
“He held my throat in his hand. Spat in my face and told me he could kill me and get away with it. He did that,’ she said.
She says that she called the police and they didn’t come. When she went to report the case two days later she said the “Phuza faced cop tried to get me to drop the case,”.
Dana said her abusers name is Leshoto Itsweng and that after he had abused her, he got her arrested to intimidate her into dropping the case.
“Then he opened a counter case and this woman cop was very hostile. She wanted me in jail. So I went to jail. The prosecutor threw out the case even before I appeared before the judge. I am still traumatized though. Perpetrators know how to use the law to traumatize,’ she said.
Dana encourages other women who were also abused by Itsweng to come out.
“I then heard the stories he did to other women. I am terrified but resolute. We are now in court. And I urge all the women he’s hurt to come out,” she said.
Simphiwe Dana adds that her biggest disappointment with her case has been women who chose not to believe that she was abused.
“My biggest disappointment has been women who choose to not believe me because apparently celebrities can’t be trusted to tell the truth. Women I adored. When I outed Mohale AboPenxenxe attacked me,” she said.
