News arriving at the EBNewsDaily newsdesk is that Zindzi Mandela, the South Africa’s Ambassador to Denmark and the daughter of Nelson and Winnie Mandela, died on Sunday night.
The 60-year-old Zindzi Mandela, who was born to Nelson Mandela and Winnie Madikizela-Mandela on 23 December 1960 in Soweto, stood in as the First Lady of South Africa until her father remarried in 1998. In 2014, Zindziswa Mandela was appointed as the ambassador to Denmark.
Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Naledi Pandor said her department was still gathering information regarding her death.
“Zindzi will not only be remembered as a daughter of our struggle heroes, Tata Nelson and Mama Winnie Mandela, but as a struggle heroine in her own right. She served South Africa well,” Pandor said in a statement, expressing her condolences to the Mandela family and their loved ones.
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) who have always stood by her side said they were saddened by the passing away of Zinzi.
“The EFF is saddened by the passing of fearless and uncompromising Zindziswa Mandela. We send our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and colleagues. May her soul rest in power,” the EFF said.
