Undertakers in the Tshwane region will not stop with their strike action until government meet their demands.
They demand that government must tranform the industry and should consult them directly on decisions that affect them.
On Monday, hundreds of funeral undertakers gathered in Hammanskraal, Themba, outside the Jubilee hospital demanding to talk with government.
Funeral undertakers threatened to stop removing bodies from homes and hospitals if government failed to meet their demands.
Bernett Sibandane, Unification Task Team Coordinator says, “The funeral industry does not get nothing, a funeral industry is a stepchild of the government, the government feeds everybody else, he will feed the taxi industry and feed all departments, whatever is left they don’t even consider the funeral industry.”
He says that the legalisation of the outsourcing of mortuary facilities was one of their demands.
