Johannesburg | Newly appointed mayor of Johannesburg Jolidee Matongo has died in a car crash.
The car accident happened after the ANC program in Soweto which was led by party President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Matongo became the mayor of Johannesburg in August this year in a move that was welcomed with outrage in social media. Former DA leader Mmusi Maimane came in defense of the new mayor, saying he is rightly a South African.
Matongo become the third mayor in the City since local government elections in 2016, with the City first being led by former DA member Herman Mashaba, followed by Geoff Makhubo, who died in July from Covid-19-related
