The Department of Basic Education (DBE) has announced that phase two of applications for teacher assistants and general assistants will open on 27 September 2021 and close on 3 October 2021.
DBE advertised the posts on their social media platforms over the weekend.
This employment initiative, which will close on October 3, seeks to employ 287 000 youth into the sector. The initiative is part of the Presidential Youth Employment Initiative (PYEI) Basic Education Employment Initiative (BEEI) which is included in the Presidential Employment Stimulus (PES) that seeks to mitigate the economic impact the Covid pandemic has brought.
How to apply for teaching assistant jobs
The registration process takes less than five minutes.
You will need to complete a form which requires basic personal information including your name, ID number, race, postal code, and contact details.
To apply for the government’s teaching assistant jobs and General School Assistant jobs, applicants need to sign up on the following SA Youth network website: https://sayouth.datafree.co/Home/Index/EN.
This is a zero-rate mobisite which applicants can access using a mobile phone. Those without internet access can call the following toll-free number: 0800 727272.
School assistants will earn a monthly stipend of R3,500 (less 1% UIF contribution).
