over Sudan in their last group match played on Wednesday.
The Pharaos went into the match knowing only victory will carry them to the next round, having lost their opening match against Nigeria before beating Guinea Bissau in their second game.
Mohammed Abdel scored in the 35th minute to set his side on the path to victory, and the goal eventually gave
them the much-needed maximum points.
In another group D match, Nigeria went through as winners after beating Guinea Bissau 2-0.
