JOHANNESBURG: Legendary actor Patrick Shai has allegedly committed suicide in the garage at his house in Dobsonville, Soweto. Sunday World revealed.
A family friend who did not want to be named for fear of reprisal revealed.
Shai trended for most parts on the week after a video he took challenging rapper Cassper Nyovest into a boxing match. He was heavily criticised on social media for calling Nyovest ‘Son of a b*tch’. The backlash on social media is alledged to have taken a toll on the veteran to end up taking his own life.

EBNewsDaily reported that Shai asked for forgiveness in a series of videos and also issued a statement saying it was not his intention behind the video was to challenge Cassper Nyovest to a public engagement that could lead to an exhibition fight in the hopes of bringing the issues of GBV to a higher platform than they currently are.
“I regret the manner in which I approached this,” Shai added.

Yesterday I put out a video wherein I called out Capper Nyovest to a boxing match. The intention behind the video was to challenge him to a public engagement that could lead to an exhibition fight in the hopes of bringing the issues of GBV to a higher platform than they currently are.
I regret the manner in which I approached this, the words I used, the impact it has had on Cassper Nyovest and his family but more so his mother. I am aware that what I said was apprehensible and as such there are no excuses.
I apologize to Cassper Nyovest, his family, his mother and South Africa as a whole. The video will be removed from all my social media platforms.
