Defending champions Griquas will play the Pumas in the Currie Cup final after both sides won their semi-finals on Sunday.

Griquas produced a commanding performance at Griqua Park in Kimberley, beating the Lions 52-12 to secure a home final.

The Pumas booked the other place with a 27-24 victory over the Cheetahs at Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein.

The two results set up a final in Kimberley on Saturday, with Griquas having the chance to defend the title in front of their home supporters.

Griquas’ 40-point winning margin was the more emphatic of the two semi-finals, while the Pumas had to hold off the Cheetahs in a three-point contest.

The finalists have already met during the competition. The Pumas recorded their first win of the season when they beat the Boland Kavaliers 20-15 in round three, ending Boland’s unbeaten start.

Kick-off details for the final are expected from the competition organisers.
