Musician and television presenter Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye is expected to return to the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on Monday in connection with an alleged firearm incident involving an e-hailing driver.

He faces charges that include discharging a firearm in public and pointing an object likely to be a firearm. The allegations arise from an incident reported in Edenvale in June.

National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Magaboke Mohlatlole told SABC News that the case was previously postponed after Maarohanye did not appear in court and cited ill health.

A warrant for his arrest was issued but held over until the next appearance, Mohlatlole said. The state has indicated that it is ready to proceed.

The charges have not been tested in court, and Maarohanye has not been convicted in relation to the incident.

The court is expected to deal with his appearance and determine the next step in the case.
