Five people have been arrested after police rescued a 25-year-old e-hailing driver who was allegedly kidnapped in Cape Town and held for ransom.
Police traced the driver to a property in Southampton Road, Heathfield, after his brother received a demand for R4,000, SABC News and eNCA reported on Sunday.
Investigators used the tracking system in the driver's vehicle to locate him. He was found alive and taken for medical attention.
Police allege that the driver had exchanged contact details with a woman he met through his work and later arranged to meet her. He was allegedly kidnapped and sexually assaulted after arriving for the meeting.
