Kaizer Chiefs slip to fourth after Polokwane City draw

Kaizer Chiefs dropped to fourth place in the Betway Premiership after being held by Polokwane City at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.

The result was Chiefs' third draw in six league matches and allowed AmaZulu to move above them in the standings.

AmaZulu beat Marumo Gallants 1-0 at Princess Magogo Stadium to reach 13 points from six matches. The Durban side's victory lifted them into third place, pushing Chiefs down one position.

Chiefs were unable to turn their periods of possession into a decisive breakthrough against a Polokwane City side that remained organised throughout the match.

The draw leaves Chiefs needing to recover ground as the early league table begins to take shape. Their next run of fixtures will be important in determining whether they can stay close to the leading group.

Polokwane City, meanwhile, added a valuable point against one of the country's best-supported clubs. AmaZulu's win continued a strong opening to their campaign and placed them among the early challengers near the top of the table.
