Orlando Pirates advanced to the next preliminary round of the CAF Champions League after beating Mauritius side La Cure Waves 3-1 in Soweto.

The tie was level after a goalless first leg in Mauritius. Pirates then conceded an early goal at Orlando Amstel Arena, putting the South African side under pressure.

The Buccaneers responded with three unanswered goals before half-time and protected the lead through the second half.

The result sends Pirates into a further preliminary tie for a place in the group stage. They will face the winner of the contest between African Stars of Namibia and Mangasport of Gabon.

Pirates entered the continental campaign seeking to build on a strong domestic start. The next opponent and match dates will be confirmed after the other preliminary tie is completed.
